    TPSC/16 Session: Advancing Global Harmonisation in Aviation Training at GISS2025

    The sixteenth session of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee (TPSC/16), held in Abu Dhabi as part of GISS2025, produced fruitful discussions in the pursuit of global aviation training harmonisation. 

    This annual high-level gathering convened the 16 elected aviation training organisations and ICAO Training to discuss ICAO training products and implementation activities across the Training Partnership Programme (TPP) network. 

    A Platform for Strategic Dialogue

    The TPSC/16 session provided an essential forum for the 16 TPSC Members and invited Observers to engage in in-depth discussions. The focus was on developing innovative strategies that can streamline training processes and ensure that best practices are universally adopted across the TPP community. With a clear commitment to advancing a safer, more secure, and sustainable future in aviation, the session underscored the critical need for coordinated efforts among international partners and regions.

    Leadership and Collaborative Expertise

    The session was inaugurated by Chairwoman Paula V. de Almeida., CEO of the JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO), who extended a cordial welcome to all TPSC Members and TPP Observers. She was supported by Vice-Chairs Ahmed Hoummady and Won Soon Park, whose participation further reinforced the session's collaborative ethos. Their collective leadership set the tone for discussions that were both productive and forward-thinking. 

    Key Discussion Points and Initiatives

    During the session, participants were briefed on the 2024 ICAO Secretariat/GAT activities, offering insights into the evolving landscape of aviation training from the Secretariat’s perspective. Other discussed talking points were:Modifications to Training Miles, Access to ICAO Library Products And Updates to the ICAO Training Policy.

    Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA); Incheon Airport Aviation Academy (IAAA); JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO); Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS); Airports Council International (ACI World); ENAC – Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile; East African School of Aviation (EASA Kenya); ANAC – Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil; Loumed Cabin Crew Training Center (LCCTC); Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria (NCAT); Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); iGA Istanbul Airport Academy; Ethiopian Aviation University (EAU); Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA); Academia Superior De Ciencias Aeronauticas (ASCA); Global Air Navigation Services L.L.C. (GANS).

    The productive outcomes of the TPSC/16 session at GISS2025 demonstrate a firm resolve among international aviation training bodies to harmonise and enhance training methodologies worldwide in strong alignment with ICAO Training.
